Senior Flood Risk Consultant
Location: Exeter
Build Maintain Recruit are seeking an experienced Senior Flood Risk Consultant to join a consultancy in Exeter. This role offers the chance to take the lead on a variety of flood risk and drainage projects, manage client relationships, and play a key part in delivering high-quality outcomes within a supportive and innovative team.
As a Senior Flood Risk Consultant, you will:
Lead and deliver flood risk and drainage projects, ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes.
Manage client relationships, including negotiations with LLFA authorities and public consultations.
Oversee project financials, including fee proposals, invoicing, and ensuring financial viability.
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
Mentor junior staff, providing guidance and managing workload priorities.
Provide technical support to senior management and contribute to team success through resource planning and quality management. Requirements:
A 2:1 degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Professional qualification or progress towards IEng, CEng (ICE or CIWEM).
7-10 years’ experience in flood risk and drainage design, ideally within the private sector.
Proven expertise in Flood Risk Assessments, drainage strategies, and detailed drainage designs.
Strong project management, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microdrainage, FLOW, and reviewing CAD work.
Knowledge of NPPF, planning systems, and flood risk/drainage design guidance (e.g., CIRIA). Desirable:
Experience in appeal work and business development. Salary & Benefits:
