What we’re looking for

An experienced General Manager to lead on all aspects of business operations behind the scenes at our warehouse, enabling our site team to work as safely and efficiently as possible. This will include working closely with the Project Manager, Site Operations Manager and Operations Support to ensure the smooth running of our business.

Work is to be based at our Ellen's Green (West Sussex) warehouse with flexibility of working from home on occasion. 40 hour working week as standard, with some extended hours and weekend working (including some bank holidays) to be expected, especially during the April – October peak-season. This may involve some working on site, as required and staying away.

What you’d be doing

A hands-on role which manages the full range of business administration, running of the warehouse and inventory software to ensure all business operations run smoothly in the lead up to, and post, our on-site activations:

* To work as part of an experienced team across Management, Projects and Site Team.

* To obtain a sound understanding of the Chord structures and the Chord methodology.

* To be progressive thinking and look to help drive efficiencies within the business.

* To manage all aspects of the warehouse facilities (insurances, repairs, IT, waste etc).

* To lead on all H&S and best practice while working in the warehouse/yard.

* To lead on installing and maintaining appropriate inventory software.

* To maintain the inventory of kit (repairs and renewals with local suppliers) and keep the warehouse ordered and tidy.

* To maintain all relevant qualifications and tickets for Chord employees and organise training sessions.

* To manage our growing fleet of plant and vehicles and ensure inspections, services, insurances and taxes are up to date.

* To work with the Project Manager and haulier to understand build schedules and deadlines/movement of kit and help develop best practice for load lists/weight recording etc.

* To maintain and procure IT and comms services for the team, as required.

* To ensure PPE and uniform is fit for purpose and replenished when needed.

* To provide constructive feedback on team members (individually and as a team) to help everyone develop and improve.

What you need to do the job

* Relevant warehouse/facilities management experience.

* Scissor lift, Forklift certification desirable.

* Full and clean driving licence.

* Good IT skills.

* Proactive, self-starter.

* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

* Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.

* Excellent interpersonal skills – to be able to work with everyone in the team, clients and suppliers.

* Experience of working in a team.

* Relevant industry experience desirable.
