Role: Resident Engineer-Electrical

Location: Devonport

Duration: 12 months

Primary Purpose

Ensure the delivery of site Quality by managing, providing advice and support, and witnessing the installation and commissioning process through construction works in the Submarine Refit Complex.

Accountabilities

The Construction Resident Engineer is accountable to the Lead Construction Manager for day-to-day planning matters.

The Construction Resident Engineer remains functionally accountable to the Design and Safety Manager.

Principal Tasks and Responsibilities

Assist the design team and construction and Project team by providing advice and communicating with contractors and relevant internal stakeholders to resolve site issues/ Technical Queries during construction in line with contract timescales.
Co-ordinate with the Contractor, Construction, Quality and Commissioning Leads to deliver allocated packages of work to completion.
Witness Hold Points and where identified, undertake or organise independent checking associated with the quality requirements.
Develop and mentor junior team members.
Ensure the contractor adheres to the Drawings, Specification, Scope of works and Change requests and raise potential non-conformances to relevant stakeholders when they occur
Champion safety and quality through delivery.
Utilise SQEP resource to inform decisions/ approvals
Build relationships with the wider team, stakeholders and interfaces to aide the delivery of the package
Manage the interactions with design team resource and TA/DA.
Undertake and record inspections to ensure adherence to scope and ITPS.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements

Degree qualified and or Charted in a relevant discipline.

Has a number of years delivering in a nuclear environment.

Has safely executed relevant Construction works.

Nuclear and safety case understanding.

Has experience delivering within the nuclear licenced site boundary.

Has awareness of CDM, construction practices and health and safety legislation.

Can demonstrate effective stakeholder management and understands the importance of integrated team delivery.

Experience in delivering NEC contracts
