Our client is a Public Sector organisation based in Durham.

They require two Youth Workers to work part time with in their Childrens and Young Peoples Service and roles are running right through to February 2025.

The aim will be to work afternoons.

The successful candidates must have recent experience of delivering youth work sessions to young people. Recent experience of working face to face and building relationships with young people. Experience of working in partnership with organisations such as schools, departments within the Local Authority and/or the Voluntary and Community sector. Experience of delivering group work to young people. Experience of monitoring, reviewing, and evaluating own work with young people. Experience of working with vulnerable young adults (SEND) is desirable.

The post is eligible for flexi time and the post holder must have an enhanced DBS. In addition, there is a requirement for a Youth Work Qualification (minimum Level 2). The hourly rate for the posts is £14.41.
The main purpose of the role is to assist with the delivery of youth work provision within the Progression and Learning Service. The purpose of the role is to engage young people who are Not in Education, Employment or Training through the delivery of personal development programmes working closely with colleagues in Durham Works.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

1. To work closely with DurhamWorks and external partners to identify young people who are not engaging in Education, Employment or Training.
2. To actively encourage young people to participate in the support available from services to move a step closer to progressing into a positive destination.
3. To work together with DurhamWorks and partners to assess young people's needs and plan an appropriate pathway of support including the delivery of personal development programmes.
4. To work with young people, many of whom can have multiple barriers and/or be from a priority group such as a Care Leaver or have Special Educational Needs (SEND), working on a one-one basis and planning and delivering group work sessions in the community.
5. To understand local communities across County Durham, including building strong relationships with the voluntary and community sector.

6. To build and maintain positive relationships with young people.
7. To monitor and evaluate youth work in consultation with colleagues and young people.

8. To encourage young people to actively participate in the decision-making processes of the programme.

9. To deliver travel training to young people to support independent travel skills.

10. To support the tracking process where required to identify the destination of participants following exit from the programme.

11. To be aware of and implement Progression and Learning's Health and Safety policies and procedures.

12. To participate in regular performance reviews and be prepared to undertake training courses appropriate to your role.

13. To be accountable and responsible for carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the post with due regard to the Durham County Councils Equal Opportunities policy.
