We are currently recruiting for a Clinical Lead with experience working with people with Autism Spectrum Conditions, to provide leadership and specialist clinical input in Beechwood College. Beechwood is a specialist residential education service providing person centred care and education for young people aged 16-25 with Autism Spectrum Conditions, learning disabilities and complex behavioural presentations.

Main duties of the job

You will take a lead role in providing support and direct practice leadership to the multi-disciplinary team in order to ensure delivery of high quality services in educational and residential provisions, through assessment and formulation to intervention and evaluation. As a senior clinician, you will take a lead role in coordinating the overall clinical provision across the site, which varies according to individual need and commissioned requirements.

To be considered for this post, you must be a HCPC/NMC registered professional with post-qualification experience working in Autism and/or learning disability settings.You will have received post-qualification training in positive behavioural support, have substantial experience and knowledge of multi-disciplinary clinical intervention for people with an Autism Spectrum Condition, and be competent in understanding and applying principles of the Mental Capacity Act as relevant to the setting.

We are looking for a confident, well-rounded clinician who is committed to the provision of person centred support, and who is driven to improve the lives of people with Autism, promoting education and social inclusion and using effective communication to work in partnership with people receiving care.

Overview of your organisation

You will be familiar with the leadership demands of working with people with complex needs and will be skilled in supporting teams to provide the best possible care through the delivery of skilled supervision and consultation. Above all, we are looking for a colleague who will support us to develop our services further so that we can achieve our aspiration to be the best provider of residential education provision that we can be.

You will join an existing multidisciplinary team involving colleagues from clinical psychology, nursing, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, psychiatry, dietetics, education and residential care. Across the wider Iris Care Group, you will join a clinical services team, working across multiple specialities and disciplines, allowing for a high level of peer support and the sharing of clinical resources. We have an active internal CPD process and have active links with local universities and with local special interest groups across specialisms. The department is active in service evaluation and development, particularly in the areas of recovery focused mental health care, autism adapted evidence based therapies, person centred planning, positive behavioural support and restraint reduction, the measurement of staff cultures, and service user involvement
