Overview:

The Azure Network Security Engineer will work as part of the central Network Services Team based across Leeds and London, assisting with daily operations and service improvements, in addition to working on project delivery and providing support services to both Business and IT teams.

The successful role holder will work closely with the Infrastructure, Architecture, Business Application and Security Teams.

The role is officially based out of Leeds, but you’ll be predominantly home-based with travel required to Leeds, Liverpool, London in addition to other national and international sites possibly required as projects dictate.  

You may be required to provide on-call escalated support in the event of any major incidents, Major VIP events and other activities. This may be outside normal business hours to include time zones in other regions and weekends.

What you need:

As with any role, we want to find the right person and we want to make sure you know it’s the right role for you too.  You therefore need:

•    At least 5+ years’ experience working with Microsoft Azure in a networking and security capacity, with demonstrable knowledge gained through understanding key components in the Azure workspace environment

•    Familiarity in using Terraform, GifHub and Azure DevOps to undertake deployment tasks

•    Demonstrable experience and understanding in Azure NSG’s, UDR’s, Peerings, vNets, Landing Zones and ExpressRoutes

•    Experience in creating and using Azure vWAN is a plus along with a good understanding of BGP routing protocols and VPNs

•    A familiarity of Akamai in a cloud environment, along with experience and a strong understanding of Cisco Switch environments

•    A good understanding and experience of the Fortinet product suite, including Gate, AP, Authenticator, Analyzer and Manager

•    An in-depth understanding and experience of 802. 1x to secure the on-premise LAN networks.

•    Previous experience of using Zscaler ZIA & ZPA to manage internet security and remote access to core systems

•    The ability to identify and mitigate security risks and ensure IT Security design and delivery

•    A friendly, approachable demeaner when working with colleagues who are not from a technical background, with the ability to communicate complex scenarios at a basic level for them to gain an understanding

•    Experience of using ServiceNow and understanding of the ITIL framework, in addition to experience of Solarwinds Monitoring and Configuration Manager

•    Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, whilst also taking pride in the work that you undertake and deliver

It would be nice to have:

•    AZ-700, NSE v7 or other certifications are desirable

Day to Day, you will:

•    Develop systems and services to be secure and efficient to meet the demands of the business

•    Anticipate future IT and business requirements and propose solutions to capture and maximise efficiency, cost and automation opportunities

•    Play a key role in the delivery of projects and deployments in the Network space

•    Act as a point of contact for incidents to IT teams, providing a prime point of contact and SME in times of major systems outages

•    Respond to all Network related incidents in line with SLA’s as required

•    Review from a cost management perspective, being mindful of costs and adhering to existing controls surrounding cloud deployment

•    Adhere to all procedures and processes around Change Management and use of systems in line with SLA’s and standards to improve the IT Network Security environment

•    Provide the necessary support to any audits, questionnaires and IT Key Controls, including key accreditations and certifications being undertaken by the business or external providers

•    Build and maintain relationships with IT personnel and managers across the business, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and helping to build on existing standards and designs within the team

•    Provide support to less experienced team members, guidance in best practice and assistance with troubleshooting issues
