Part Time Weekend and Waking Night Support Worker

We are seeking a confident, proactive and experienced Support Worker “Buddy/Companion” to work with a bright and happy 14-year-old young man who has quadriplegic cerebral palsy, is wheelchair dependent, non-verbal and peg fed.

He is an engaged and happy individual who requires support to get the most out of his daily activities.  His passions are being outdoors, watching sports, building Lego and playing computer games and other typical teenage activities.

Responsibilities will include providing high quality personal care and enabling him to participate in a wide variety of activities, from getting out and about in his local area to being in the family home doing activities or relaxing playing games consoles or reading.

This role would suit a candidate with an outgoing personality, confidence in a positive and calm manner, energetic, fun, competent and adaptable with good organisation skills and common sense and a good sense of humour!

Applicants should be IT literate as daily reports/records will need to be completed.

Previous experience working in a care environment is essential.

Applicants must have a full driver’s licence and it be possible for us to insure you to drive the client’s vehicle.

Hours of work

Either a Saturday or Sunday approximately 4 hours, plus occasional evenings, bank holidays and school holidays (all to be arranged with the family).

Rate of Pay

from £16 an hour, dependent on experience

We are also looking for a Waking Night Support Worker to work with the young man to offer overnight personal care and support as he needs.

Hours of work

45 hours per week

5 x 10.30pm - 7.30am (some flexibility may be required).

Rate of pay

£18.00 per hour.

In both roles there is the possibility of travelling with the family to support on family holidays (UK and abroad), all to be arranged with notice.

Please be aware there must be no smoking/vaping whilst working with our client.

Due to the nature of the role an enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service will be required.
