Assistant Underwriter

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Underwriter to join one of our most successful and tenacious underwriting teams. This is a great job for someone to partner with brokers and customers to truly understand their wants and needs, using data insight to ensure we provide whole customer solutions!

You will ideally be located a feasible distance to the Kent/Sussex area to service brokers and customers within the area.

A bit about the job:

This role is a perfect fit for someone that is looking to build and hone their underwriting skills. You will be working within your underwriting authority progressing through license levels over time. You will be accountable for underwriting decisions, engaging with brokers to build strong relationships, seek referral & conferral support and perform data analysis as part of your role.

Additionally, you will:

* Ensure that service for new business, mid-term adjustments (MTAs) and/or renewals is managed swiftly for our brokers

* Seek referrals to ensure sound underwriting decisions on complex cases

* Interact with stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely quotes are issued in line with broker expectations.

* Perform controls to ensure the underwriting risk always stays within tolerance

* Identify and implement service, process, and customer journey improvements

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

* Previous Property, Casualty and Construction underwriting experience would be beneficial

* Knowledge of insurance products, features and processes

* We need you to be enthusiastic, have good attention to detail and be comfortable speaking to a wide range of brokers

* Customer focussed, planning, prioritisation and organisation skills

* Risk Awareness and a knowledge of complaints process; breach procedures; GDPR and other impacting legislation
