Our client is looking for a C&I Craftsperson to join it's team at Staythorpe CCGT Power Station in Nottinghamshire.

Main Purpose of the Role

Reporting to the site Craft Team Supervisor, you will be responsible for fault diagnosis, maintenance and repair of Control and Instrumentation equipment across all areas of plant as well as carrying out routine maintenance activities and general site duties as allocated.

Working in an efficient and proactive manner, in accordance with Company safety rules and procedures, you will require minimal Supervision. This is primarily a day working role, but you must be prepared to work outside normal working hours and to work as part of a rotational or stagger shift pattern as the business needs change.

In addition to maintenance duties you are required to effectively collaborate with the station Operations team and Engineering & Outage (E&O) teams, supporting plant shutdowns and recommissioning.

You should be aware that the role includes working in confined spaces, at heights and in all weathers.

Key Responsibilities

* Ensure the Power Station is a safe place to work and actively contribute to its safe, efficient and cost-effective running

* Be responsible for the quality of your own work and recording the work carried out via the station’s computerised work management system (PRISM) and making recommendations for future activities

* Ensure that all safety and environmental issues are reported immediately

* Work to a high level of productivity in line with business requirements, whilst maintaining quality of work and taking pride in the highest standards of housekeeping during and at the end of your work

* Undertake both routine and emergent maintenance activities relevant to the discipline as directed by the station O&M team.

* Understand station process as required, for example stores, booking of spares, quality assurance systems, maintenance management systems etc.

* Take a proactive approach to improvements to maintenance activities and supporting station maintenance and operations as required.

* Work closely with O&M Technicians and Engineers to resolve complex, reoccurring or issues outside of your competency

Required Knowledge & Skills

* A proactive and technically sound approach to Safety, Quality of Work and the achievement of Company and team Goals

* A positive and proactive team focussed attitude

* A minimum of NVQ level 3 in a relevant engineering discipline

* Apprentice trained with at least two years relevant experience

* Understanding of Electricity at Work Regulations 1999

* Demonstrable experience on Control and Instrumentation equipment associated within process industry including; Transmitters, Analysers, Pneumatic/Hydraulic valve positioners, Electrical Actuators, hazardous area equipment, PLCs, electrical installation work, fault investigation and diagnostics

* Competent in the use of basic IT systems

* A high degree of self-reliance, self-motivation, self-confidence and working time flexibility

* The ability to provide technical advice to operations staff within your area of responsibility

* The ability to recognise when something is outside of your responsibility and know when to seek advice

* Excellent communication skills

* The ability to develop good working relationships with those at all levels within the organisation

Desirable Knowledge and Skills

* Underpinning knowledge and experience for working in Hazardous Areas. Hold an COMPEX (EX01, EX02, EX03, EX04) certificate

* Smallbore tubing installation
