MATERIALS MANAGER

Location: Lincoln
Type of role: Contract (Temp to Perm within 6-12 months)
Salary: £20.00-24.04/hr (DOE - equivalent to £(phone number removed)/annum)

Goals/Mission
Our client is a leading railway infrastructure company dedicated to delivering excellence in rail services and operations. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Materials Manager to manage the flow of materials, equipment, goods, supplies, etc., from suppliers. Continuously reviews and plans requirements for purchasing materials. Prepare negotiations of contracts for goods, services, suppliers, equipment related to materials, transportation, and storage. In logistic administration, monitors contractual obligations for compliance to support superior. Participate in the evaluation of vendor performance. Coordinate and control the materials planning function. Ensure that materials of the required standard are available at the production facility to meet the requirements of the maintenance operation. Provide materials management and procurement support for the designated fleet. To provide inventory control and order book management for the rolling stock service business. This role is responsible for providing materials availability for projects and fleets. No budget control. The main stakeholders are project and Fleet Managers.

Key Responsibilities
Procurement
• Provide a proactive procurement support service to the designated fleet for engineered parts, facilities, all goods, and services in accordance with company procedures.
• Ensure the procurement activity is in cohesion with strategic procurement planning, includ-ing the support and development of strategic business objectives.

Materials
• Ensure materials of the required standards are available at the production facility to meet the requirement of the maintenance operation.

Warranty
• Responsible for liaising with the Materials Control Manager in relation to warranty failed product for the designated fleet and to take the lead role in negotiating claim settlements for products covered by contractual warranty in cohesion with counterparts on other con-tracts.
• Effective proactive liaison with depot management, SAG warranty representative, to satisfy the timely conclusion of warranty claims.
• Work with the designated Fleet Engineering / Technical representatives to assist in coordi-nation with investigative efforts root cause and corrective action on RR/Rolling Stock/MAT/006/June 2018/ Issue 1 all repairable product, in particular warranty-failed products

Suppliers
• Take a proactive role in addressing quality concerns and repair work with the suppliers (Supply chain) to ensure that preventive measures are pursued.
• Engage with the suppliers and liaison with systems experts to agree product reliability im-provement and obsolescence solutions.

Customer Relationships
• Collaboration with internal/ external customer to meet current needs and explore oppor-tunities for mutual benefit.
• Develop a relationship with the customer that provides a stable foundation for future business opportunities.

Health, Safety & Environment
• Implement safe systems and controls within your area of responsibility.
• Understand, implement and comply with the Siemens Rail Systems HSQE policies.
• Communicate health and safety responsibilities to your team (or virtual team) and ensure employees raise issues and participate in implementation of agreed changes.
• Fully participate and engage in RL behavioural safety agenda to ensure you and your team work safely.
• Engage with HSQE team to agree targets and priorities to communicate and cascade to team.
• Take reasonable care to avoid acts or omissions that may have an environmental impact.
• Accept personal responsibility to take care of ourselves and any others affected by one’s own acts or omissions.

Continuous Improvement/Quality
• Actively participate in our 3is improvement programme and drive implementation of im-provements from the team.
• Continuously develop cross functional and departmental processes.

Compliance
• Monitor compliance to meet internal control procedures and take appropriate corrective action.
• Ensure awareness and understanding of Siemens compliance policies and ‘Tell Us’ ethos. Implement in areas of responsibility.

Experience & Qualifications
• 3 years’ experience in Rail materials, stores or engineering position (MRP)
• Detailed knowledge of materials and stores management procedures and warranty process
• Good knowledge of IT systems and software
• CIPS Professional diploma in Procurement and Supply
