Job Title: Town Planning Surveyor
Location: London with Regional Travel
Salary: From £45,000 - £50,000, plus a performance-based bonus of 10%
About the Role We are looking for a motivated, skilled built environment professional to join our Advisory Services team as a Surveyor. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a high-impact portfolio that includes a broad range of properties across the country, from historic buildings to modern facilities. You will play a critical role in supporting estate rationalisation efforts, involving development and disposal projects in both healthcare and non-healthcare sectors.
In this role, you will bring expertise in planning and development to advance key areas, including securing developer contributions, promoting strategic sites, conducting viability assessments, and engaging in policy advocacy. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment, financial feasibility, and regulatory compliance across projects.
Key Responsibilities
Lead efforts to secure infrastructure funding through developer contributions, including research, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.
Support the development and review of Financial Viability Assessments.
Drive planning and development projects in line with organizational policies.
Act as a subject matter expert on built environment matters, especially in relation to site development and asset management.
Monitor local, regional, and national planning policies, providing input to influence emerging policies and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Foster partnerships with public sector entities and stakeholders, providing strategic advice to support effective asset management.
Prepare policy updates, summary documents, and presentations for internal and external audiences.
Uphold professional standards and participate in ongoing professional development activities. Qualifications & Skills
Professional membership with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), with at least 2 years of post-accreditation experience, or a minimum of 4 years’ experience in planning, development, or viability roles.
Strong knowledge of developer contributions (Section 106, Community Infrastructure Levy) and development viability.
Experience in stakeholder engagement and negotiation, with a track record of achieving successful outcomes.
Excellent organisational and analytical skills, with an ability to manage a varied workload.
Political and commercial awareness, with experience in strategic asset management.
Strong communication and report-writing skills. Additional Information
Standard business hours, Monday to Friday (9:00-5:30).
Willingness to travel to sites across England as required.
