Are you an experienced and dynamic Quality Manager looking for your next position?
We are currently looking for a Quality Manager at our Dunbar plant in East Lothian to play a key role within the cement team to be responsible for the management and continuous improvement of the Quality function.You will be able to lead development and performance within the Quality team whilst working closely with the Plant Management Team, driving to achieve performance and process improvements, meeting plant & customer objectives.
Main Responsibilities
As the successful Quality Manager, your day-to-day duties and responsibilities will include (not exhaustive):
Fostering safety awareness amongst employees, striving to achieve a zero-harm culture, leading by example and by setting high standards towards creating a sustainable Health & Safety culture coupled with Environmental excellence
Complying with the Company environmental standards in the relevant fields of activity
Ensuring the quality of products and services are in line with objectives, quality contracts and standards, and any process improvement work is relevant and of good quality
Leading daily reviews of Quality KPI’s & Product conformity, setting in place key actions for any deviations
Operating a Quality Management System, ensuring certification of products, operational testing, monitoring and reporting as well as maintaining Quality compliance
Ensuring sampling, measuring and analysis procedures (including Tarmac quality technical standards) are in place, adequate and respected
Providing prompt production of Dispatch Quality Data as required by the sales function and customers
Promoting quality of work and motivating personnel, developing skills to keep abreast of technical developments
Evaluating the suitability of new plant together with safe procedures for their use that ensure conformity to legislation and Tarmac Management System
Investigating product quality issues, putting in place corrective actions with a corresponding action plan
Liaising with the technical sales force and NCTM in case of quality claims
Managing chemistry/quality/environment projects to carry out improvements and standardization and coordinating certification procedures
Ensuring that all required personnel are fully trained and competent in the Quality management system and the ISO Quality Management system
Providing line manager support including, recruitment, retention, development opportunities and appraisals for your teamThe ideal Quality Managerwill possess the following;
Significant experience in a technical/optimisation/quality management role with experience of laboratory testing procedures
Extensive knowledge of cement industry processes from raw mix design, clinker production (burning) to finished products grinding
In-depth knowledge of physico-chemical characteristics of raw materials, in process and finished
Fully conversant with laboratory sample and recording systems in a cement/concrete or related-product laboratory
Experience of managing change and implementing new processes and procedures
A sound knowledge of standards and QA certification procedures
Fully conversant with ISO9001 quality management system, BS EN197,
In-depth working knowledge of cement products is essential
Analytical thinking, able to analyse data and compile logical, structured reports
Good time-management skills; with ability to meet strict deadlines
Coaching and Influencing skills are paramount in this roleSuitable candidates for the Quality Manager role will hold a Chemistry/Materials Science related degree (or equivalent) whilst IOSH and Management or leadership certification would be desirable.
