Job Description

Due to ongoing impressive business growth, Assystem are seeking to recruit a Business Development / Account Manager to work within its Energy, Transport & Infrastructure group reporting to the Sales Director – Transport and Infrastructure and supporting the Project Management & Consulting (PM&C) Business Unit Director.

The Business Development / Account Manager will form part of the Sales team and will report to the Sales Director – Transport & Infrastructure, focusing on the development of expanding PM&C services lines across multiple sectors with key focus on National Grid, Energy Distributors, Network Rail, National Highways, Public Sector bodies and Tier 1 Contractors and Consultancies.  

They will be responsible for building on existing/new clients, supporting current senior relationships, driving and securing new opportunities.  Their focus will be clearly on converting the new business opportunities into profitable sales orders for Assystem, supporting clients and managing tender responses.

They will forge strong relationships across the Assystem PM&C community in the UK, drawing on the extensive industry experience across the group in developing value propositions for our customers.

They will work, in conjunction with the Sales Director – Transport & Infrastructure and Chief Sales Officer and the wider senior leadership team, to define objectives and target clients, partner opportunities and the wider sales & communications team to develop targeted presentations and offerings to the market.

Market analysis and account planning:

Develop and manage the key account plans for prospective and existing clients across multiple sectors and services lines.
Develop and execute a market coverage plan ensuring Assystem is present and active at key industry events and that key Assystem leaders and experts are featured and known in the marketplace.Relationship management:

Develop and utilise industry contacts to define opportunities and develop new clients.
In conjunction with procurement seek & foster relationships with potential delivery partners.
Support Assystem with Market Intelligence activities and information systems, including Visit Plans, Visit Reports, CRM Information Systems, Monthly Sales Reports.Sales opportunities pipeline:

Proactively identify and pursue project opportunities in the Energy, Transport and Infrastructure market.
Lead generation and prospecting via networking and cold calling to primary targets.
Gather and share key market and specific client information allowing Assystem to proactively prepare for bid strategies before RFP’s are released.
Ensure placement of Assystem on approved bid lists with strategic accounts.Bids and proposals:

Develop win strategies for project opportunities.
Assist in writing proposals and support the bid team.
Lead bids to support wider function if required.Support to business growth plan:

Close integration with operations team to align the capability and capacity with the business development and account plans.
Liaise and communicate with the Sales & Communications team on any potential opportunities generated.

Qualifications

Essential skills and capabilities for the role are:

Minimum 7 years proven track record in a sales & tendering environment within the Energy, Transport or Infrastructure sector
Strong understanding of the Energy, Transport or Infrastructure sector, supply chain, wider industry and overall value chain for similar industries
Proven business development capability.
Strong negotiation skills.
Contract management experience.
Excellent organisational skills.
Presentation skills.
Strong communication skills
Able to work in a digital environment – TEAMS, MS Office etc.
Proactive nature, able to work on your own initiative.
Experience in running meetings with senior stakeholders, building rapport, setting agendas, and closing for commitments.
Team player who can work with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to win deals.Desirable skills and capabilities for the role are:

Engineering experience and qualifications in related sector will be advantageous
Project management skills, with the ability to support delivery and manage client expectations.
Previous experience of working in a multi-discipline engineering and environmental consultancy would be advantageous.

Security clearance:

Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK BPSS security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum BPSS level.
