Complex Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: Southwark, SE1
Hours: Full-Time Monday to Friday
Pay rate: £105-£115 per day
Long-Term PositionLong Term Futures is supporting a an OFSTED Rated OUTSTANDING mainstream primary school in Southwark (SE1) with an integrated SEN provision, in their search for a skilled and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work with pupils with complex needs. This full-time role is available from April 2025 and is ideal for someone experienced in supporting non-verbal children with autism (ASD) and pupils with additional SEMH and communication difficulties.

The Role:

Provide structured and nurturing support to pupils with complex SEND, including non-verbal autism, sensory processing needs, and emotional regulation difficulties
Work 1:1 and in small groups with children in EYFS and KS1, using visual aids, PECs, Makaton, and other communication tools
Collaborate with SENCo, class teachers, and external therapists to implement EHCP strategies and behaviour support plans
Support during unstructured times (e.g. transitions, breaktimes) with a consistent and calm presenceCriteria for this role:

Experience working with primary-aged pupils with ASD, SEMH and complex communication needs
Understanding of working with non-verbal learners using visual communication systems
A calm, patient and empathetic approach
Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent in SEND/Education
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)Location & Travel:
