The Opportunity:

Join a leading engineering company as a Data Centre Shift Technician based in Reading. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a critical environment, ensuring smooth operation and maintenance of data centre facilities while supporting business continuity.

Responsibilities:

* Perform planned and reactive maintenance tasks on critical infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems.

* Monitor and maintain the data centre’s power, cooling, and environmental systems to ensure uptime.

* Diagnose and troubleshoot faults or failures in systems and equipment.

* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.

* Maintain accurate documentation, including maintenance logs and incident reports.

* Liaise with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or maintenance.

* Support emergency operations and respond to critical incidents promptly.

Skills and Qualifications:

* Relevant qualifications in electrical, mechanical, or HVAC engineering (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC).

* Proven experience in a critical or data centre environment.

* Strong knowledge of UPS systems, generators, and HVAC systems.

* Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.

* Understanding of health and safety regulations.

* Ability to work on a rotating shift pattern, including nights and weekends.

* SC or DV clearance (prefered)

* Knowledge of CMMS

* HVAP or LVAP
