IT Asset Manager - Wigan

£40,000 - £55,000 + Benefits

Role; On-Site Position

I am recruiting for an experienced IT Asset Manager, joining our clients leading IT solutions business. This is an exciting new role, crucial in managing the organisation's IT asset portfolio, including both software and hardware.

Your responsibility will be to maintain a detailed inventory of these assets, using the gathered information to guide IT-related purchases and redistribution decisions. This role will require you to lead in and make strategic decisions, optimising spending and driving the Asset Management best practice & processes moving forward.

Key Responsibilities:

Governance and Monitoring: Oversee IT Asset Management (ITAM) tools to manage, monitor, and report on IT assets and inventory.

Database Management: Maintain comprehensive records of software licenses, service agreements, and warranties.

Compliance: Ensure compliance with vendor contracts through effective planning, monitoring, and management of hardware assets and software licenses.

Procurement Strategies: Develop procurement strategies that optimize technology spending across the organization.

Asset Identification: Define and enhance methods for identifying hardware and software assets, including versioning and dependencies within the asset management tools, Contract Management Library, and Configuration Management Database (CMDB).

Lifecycle Management: Apply a continuous improvement approach to managing the CMDB throughout its lifecycle, ensuring accurate tracking of configuration items (CIs) and assets, including dependencies and attributes.

Process Design and Improvement: Design, implement, and enhance processes related to software and hardware asset management.

Documentation: Establish and maintain thorough documentation for procedures, processes, and asset and configuration management reports.

Strategic Governance: Create and execute governance functions for strategic asset management.

Collaboration: Work closely with infrastructure teams to analyze trends in asset performance and incorporate industry best practices into organizational processes.

Maintenance Database: Establish and maintain a comprehensive database for hardware and software maintenance.

Required Experience:

IT Asset Management: Strong knowledge of IT software and hardware, experience working as an IT Asset Manager level in the past

CMDB Expertise: Extensive experience (5+ years) working with a CMDB and the specific business services it supports.

ITSM Tools: Over five years of experience using IT Service Management (ITSM) tools to manage IT assets.

Strategic Execution: Proven ability to successfully execute strategic asset management processes.

IT Service Management: Strong understanding of IT Service Management processes, with hands-on experience using Discovery tools.
