Position: Language and Communication Mentor
Location: South Leeds
Contract: Temporary - Permanent
Start Date: 4th November (or before)
Salary: £96 - £106 per day (experience dependent)
About Us:
PK Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Language and Communication Mentor to join one of our diverse, inclusive, and welcoming primary schools based in South Leeds. Our schools are committed to providing a supportive and engaging environment for all students, and we are looking for a passionate individual to help us achieve this goal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and group support to students with diverse learning needs, specifically those with language and communication delays.
- Assist in the implementation of personal education health care plans (EHCP’s)
- Be creative in your approach and have a strong initiative to facilitate learning for pupils with limited communication and language delays.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Support students' social and emotional development.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
- Monitor and report on student progress. Assist in adapting care plans and interventions to target areas of development.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children in an educational setting, ideally pupils with additional needs including language and communication difficulties.
- EYFS Experience is beneficial as the cohort of pupils with language and communication difficulties are predominantly based in Early Years.
- Understanding of inclusive education practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in education or support work (preferred but not essential).
