An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Plant Quality Manager to join the Manufacturing department of this leading engineering development Company at an exciting time of further rapid expansion.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will lead and drive the Quality function and develop the Quality capability and team to deliver the factory launch planning and project for Quality (APQP etc).

The role will assume responsibility for preparing and leading the function to deliver targets for production start and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

The post holder will develop and manage the quality assurance strategy to support the overall business strategy.

This will involve key activities including:

* The planning the effective deployment of SQA, Quality Engineer and Quality Technician resource to support the needs of the business.

* Managing internal and third-party audit programmes and compliance to certification / standards

* Supporting the development of PFMEA, control plans and work instructions

* Developing and collating KPI data for management review process

* Managing and driving resolution of customer and supplier quality concerns and improvement activities.

* Ensuring compliance and sign off of internal manufacturing quality control, tests and activities.

* Developing and implementing a robust quality management system to sustain ISO9001 / 14001 / ASpice etc certification.

* Planning and developing a strategy for the business certification of further quality standards as required such as AS9100, TS16949

Candidate Qualifications & Requirements

* Technical education to a minimum of HND level in either a mechanical or electrical discipline

* Proven track record as a Quality Manager in an automotive OEM, tier one supplier or related business

* Strong practical problem-solving skills with the knowledge and experience to mentor others in the use of disciplined problem solving tools such as 8D

* Must have practical hands-on manufacturing experience in related industry – likely to be automotive, but complimented by defence / aerospace sectors

* Knowledge and experience of implementing lean methods (5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen)

* IRCA trained Lead auditor, and experienced in planning and leading both internal / external audits and supplier audit programmes

* Experienced in implementing APQP and PPAP

* Experienced in implementing structured problem-solving techniques (8D, Cause and Effect Analysis)

* Strong working knowledge of statistical techniques (MSA, Acceptance Sampling, Process Capability, SPC, Gauge R & R, CMM)

* Ability and experience of dealing with supplier and customer representatives at all levels

* Good prioritising, organisation, interpersonal, communication and analytical skills

* Experience of manufacturing and process engineering
