Principal Education are seeking passionate and enthusiastic individuals, to work as teaching assistants and unqualified cover teachers in our secondary schools across London, on a flexible daily basis (Pick your own schedule). There are NO qualifications required for this type of work, however, previous experience working with children in some capacity is highly desirable.

For the teaching assistant role, you will typically be required to work with small groups of pupils with SEN or behavioural requirements, or possibly on a 1:1 basis, offering targeted support to create an inclusive learning environment.

For the unqualified cover teaching role, you will be responsible for providing general cover for lessons in secondary school classrooms when teachers are absent – for this role, you MUST be confident in your classroom and behaviour management skills.

To be eligible for this role, you MUST:

Demonstrate the right to work in the United Kingdom.
Possess strong classroom and behavioural management skills.
Demonstrate the ability to create a learning environment which effectively caters for pupils with special education needs (SEN) and behavioural challenges.
Be flexible and adaptable, willing and able to think on your feet.
Demonstrate calmness & composure under pressure, to maintain an optimal learning environment.
Possess a recent, enhanced copy of a DBS – or be willing to obtain one from Principal Education.
Possess an overseas police clearance from any country that you have resided in for six months or more within the last five years, outside of the United Kingdom.

Be based in a London borough, or within commutable distance.

Pay rates for work as an unqualified cover teacher or teaching assistant, in our secondary schools, typically range from £100 - £130 per day for flexible daily work However, if you secure an ongoing role in the one school, then we will aim to pay you a daily rate which aligns with the salaries offered by the respective school.
