About the Role

Sense is recruiting for an Accessibility Lead to join our fantastic People Team in Selly Oak, Birmingham on a hybrid basis.

Sense are continuing to develop an inclusive and accessible culture where employees of all abilities feel welcomed, included and empowered to reach their full potential. We are looking for a talented, experienced and passionate individual who can support this objective, alongside the Head of Inclusion and Wellbeing.

You will lead on delivering our inclusion and accessibility objectives by ensuring our internal systems, policies and work culture supports colleagues with disabilities. You will be hands-on and have a collaborative approach, working with different stakeholders to foster positive relationships across the organisation.

The main duties and responsibilities include:

* Lead on raising awareness of disability needs and inclusive practices, collaborating with colleagues, stakeholders and the employability service.

* Promote a culture of accessibility throughout the organisation through workshops, guidance and communication channels.

* Develop and deliver training programs for employees and managers on disability awareness, inclusive practices and accessibility best practices.

* Develop and launch accessibility strategy and action plan to address improvements, working with relevant teams e.g. IT, Property, Internal Communications and People Team.

* Develop and manage accessibility roadmaps to ensure long-term compliance and improvement.

* Advise managers and individuals on Access to Work process and applications.

* Advocate for disabled people within the organisation, ensuring their needs are considered in all projects and gather feedback to support improvements.

* Collaborate with People Partners and HR Advisors to provide seamless, effective support for adjustments and guidance.

* Manage access audits of working premises and processes to implement improvements and best practice guidance.

* Create reports on accessibility within the organisation and progress towards accessibility goals.

* Develop policies and guidance that promote and support inclusive practices and equitable workplace.

* Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and People Services with the onboarding process for new hires with disabilities, ensuring a smooth transition to joining Sense.

* Keep updated on UK disability and accessibility legislation, ensuring Sense aligns with or exceeds requirements.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

* In-depth understanding of accessibility standards (Web Content, Accessibility Guidelines 2.2, Section 508, UK Equality Act).

* Familiarity with specific assistive technologies used by people with disabilities

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach.

* Experience of leading and implementing disability, inclusion and accessibility initiatives.

* Passion for inclusion and a strong understanding of disability rights.

* Demonstrable experience of influencing stakeholders and developing organisational processes to ensure accessibility is embedded.

* A commitment to enabling an inclusive and diverse workforce to reflect our community.

* A commitment to people with complex communication and Sense’s vision and values.

* A willingness to learn how to communicate with people with complex communication needs and identify the barriers to their participation in all aspects of Sense’s work.
