Press Shop Supervisor (Night Shift) with an extensive knowledge of and background in the automotive industry, required to join a well-established leading manufacturer based in Kings Norton, Birmingham. As Press Shop Supervisor (Night Shift), you would be responsible for supervision and ongoing working performance of the team, ensuring all operational and press shop activities are completed accurately, concisely and to the required standards of quality, legality and safety.
Successful candidates for the role of Press Shop Supervisor (Night Shift) will have lean manufacturing/mechanical experience and hydraulic presswork familiarity. Offered as a permanent contract with competitive rates of pay, free car parking, Friday’s off and immediate start available.
Duties and responsibilities required by Press Shop Supervisor (Night Shift):
* Oversee operation of press machines, 5 axis lasers, CNC welding and assembly stations
* Manage team and ensure 5S boards are maintained and log if any issues
* Maintain sufficient quality checks in the operation stations
* Check first offs are present along with the appropriate paperwork e.g. works orders/quality check sheets
* Drive continuous improvement within the department
* Ensure all allocated measuring equipment is calibrated and present for when the shift starts and ensure that all operators are wearing the correct PPE
* Manage supply chain to ensure all machine services are up to date
* Ensure all daily maintenance checks are completed e.g. machinery is clean and ensure workforce keep up with cleaning rotas
* Monitor that all hand tools are booked in/out to operators before shifts
* Ensure set up photos are taken of every NPI and submitted to quality for SOP paperwork
* Manage inventory risk and ensure that contingency plans are in place
* Report on achievement of targets and identify any corrective action
* Oversee the workflow through the department as per the production plan
* Ensure tooling is put away in the appropriate racking
* Using the SMED ideology the reduce downtime and always be prepared for the change overs
* Operation of Fork Lift Truck
Successful candidate for the role of Press Shop Supervisor (Night Shift) must possess:
* Automotive/Engineering background
* Setting Hydraulic/Mechanical press up to 600 tonne - essential
* Planning ability
* FLT Licence
* Strong team work and excellent people management skills
* Strong organisational skills and great attention to detail
Location: Kings Norton, West Midlands
Hours of work: NIGHT SHIFT Monday-Thursday 15.30 pm – 02.00 am
Rate of pay: £15-£17 per hour (circa £31,200 - £35,360 p.a.) dependent upon experience
