We are currently partnering with a well-regarded secondary school in Bexley to recruit a skilled and compassionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) for a January 2025 start. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students while leading a dedicated SEND team in a supportive and forward-thinking school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the SEND provision, ensuring all students with special educational needs and disabilities are supported to achieve their potential.
Develop and implement high-quality Individual Education Plans (IEPs), working closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies.
Provide guidance and training to teaching staff on best practices for differentiating lessons and supporting students with a range of needs.
Monitor and track the progress of SEND students, regularly reviewing support strategies and making adjustments as necessary.
Act as a key liaison for parents and external professionals, ensuring strong communication and collaborative working.
Ensure compliance with all SEND regulations and the schools SEND policy.
The Ideal Candidate:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a postgraduate qualification in SEND or a related field (e.g., SENCo Award).
Proven experience working as a SENCO, or in a similar leadership role within a secondary school.
Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, best practices, and provision.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
A passion for supporting students with a diverse range of needs and a commitment to inclusive education.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to lead and inspire a team.
