The Role
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Legal Accounts Assistance to support the Legal Accounts Manager/Team Leader in ensuring the smooth operations and compliance with relevant rules and regulations including SRA Accounts Rules. You will contribute to the effectiveness of the Finance department by providing a comprehensive and efficient service to internal and external clients
Key Duties
Dealing with incoming post.
To post and process disbursements and expenses accurately on a daily basis.
Assist with Bank reconciliations and ensure any appropriate action is taken inc. rectifying any discrepancies.
Ensure payments requests, receipts and transfers (inc. CTO) are posted to ledgers and bank payments are set up and authorised in a timely manner.
Assist with banking of cheques and cash as and when required, ensuring they are banked on a timely basis.
Deal directly with clients when receiving payment by cash, credit card and cheque.
Monitor and deal with shared mailboxes ensuring requests are dealt with in an efficient and timely manner.
Assisting with the month end procedure including reporting as and when as required.
Assist with Bill posting as and when required.
Processing client interest calculations.
Processing Legal Aid claims and remittance advices (where appropriate).
Assist with and provide cover to post approved purchase ledger invoices.
Assist with and provide cover to prepare payment runs, arrange authorisation and process payment on online banking system.
To provide cover for the Legal Accounts Team Leader as and when required
Processing write offs in line with relevant authority levels.
Remaining compliant with current SARs and undertake relevant training to ensure knowledge of SARs is up to date.
To demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to the Department and the Firm and to undertake any other duties which from time to time may be allocated.
To operate safely in the work place.
To undertake any specific training courses as identified by the People and Culture Department, Group Head of Legal Accounts and external training provider.
To maintain the high standard of service offered to the firm's existing clients and to assist in creating and developing the professional reputation of the Legal Accounts Department and the Firm.
To operate the Firm's quality procedures as specified in the current edition of the Practice Manual.
To be subject to varying degrees of supervision on a day-to-day basis liaising with Legal Accounts Manager and the Head of Department on a regular basis.
To work on own initiative.
Experience Required
Previous experience within a legal finance department
Flexible and adaptable to deal with changing requirements, able to balance competing priorities
Excellent attention to detail
Commitment to delivering a professional service to the highest standards
Strong IT skills including Excel, Word & Outlook
Ability to prioritise own workload and achieve deadlines
