Job Title: Quantity Surveyor – Construction & Civil Engineering

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team, working on a variety of construction and civil engineering projects based in Carlisle and surrounding areas. As part of a dynamic team, you will manage the financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring cost control and profitability while maintaining quality and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and tenders for construction and civil engineering projects.
* Conduct detailed cost analysis and risk assessments to support decision-making.
* Manage and monitor project costs from inception to completion, ensuring cost efficiency.
* Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
* Conduct valuations and manage payments, including processing of applications for payment.
* Provide regular financial reports to project managers and clients.
* Assist with procurement of materials and services, ensuring best value.
* Maintain accurate records of all financial aspects of projects.
* Work closely with project teams, offering guidance on commercial matters and contractual issues.
* Ensure compliance with relevant building regulations, contracts, and health & safety standards.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the construction and civil engineering sectors.
* Strong understanding of cost management, contract negotiation, and procurement processes.
* Excellent knowledge of contract law, standard forms of contract (e.g., NEC, JCT), and construction regulations.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and project teams.
* Proficiency in relevant software tools such as MS Excel, cost estimation, and project management software.
* Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills.
* A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
* Full UK driving license.
