Mechanical Design Engineer

Location | Nylacast World HQ, Leicester, LE4 9LN

Hours | 08:30–17:00 (Mon-Fri), 1-hour lunch

The Nylacast Group are a worldwide leader in the design, manufacture and supply of engineering plastic solutions, with a global brand presence and 9 worldwide locations.

Due to significant growth, we are looking to strengthen our Design and Engineering team and as such we have an opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with experience of component application and design.

The Mechanical Design Engineer Role

As the Mechanical Design Engineer you will be a key member of the Nylacast Technical & Engineering team. Focusing on polymer and application solutions, the successful candidate will provide essential Engineering and technical support to the internal Sales team and to our external customers - new and existing.

Main duties of the Mechanical Design Engineer include, however not limited to:

· Ability to come up with Engineering Solutions for customers

· Accurately complete calculations – load & stress

· Undertake FEA evaluation and concept designs

· Lead in the preparation of product definition and specifications

· Participate in mechanical product design including product specification, material selection, CAD design and detailed product drawings

· Application development and design for manufacture

· Work simultaneously across a variety of different projects

· To produce detailed and accurate 2 & 3D drawings for customers (manufacturing drawings)

· Produce timely and accurate technical reports

· Keep all documents up to date in accordance with the project and quality accreditations

· Familiarisation and understanding of design for manufacturing

· Follow-up customer enquiries / queries in a professional and timely manner

· To travel both in the UK and internationally to customer sites when required

Experience & Requirements for the Mechanical Design Engineer

· Previous Experience of Industry Applications

· Time Served Mechanical / Design Engineer

· Solidworks Experience

· Experience of FEA and hand calculations (MathCAD desirable)

· Excellent communication skills.

· Microsoft Office literate.

The successful candidate must have a Full UK Driving Licence & be prepared to travel when required, being flexible and responsive in support of the business needs.
