Key Responsibilities
Deliver Outstanding Lessons: Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons that challenge students and promote high standards of achievement.
Curriculum Development: Develop, adapt, and refine maths schemes of work to ensure they meet the needs of all students, following the national curriculum guidelines.
Assessment and Progress Tracking: Regularly assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and productive learning environment, managing behaviour effectively to ensure all students can reach their potential.
Student Support: Offer additional support and intervention as needed to support students with varied abilities, including those with special educational needs.
Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development and collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and improve teaching strategies.
Engagement and Enrichment: Inspire students to pursue maths through extracurricular activities, clubs, and competitions, encouraging them to develop a love for the subject.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Required for teaching in the UK, with a strong understanding of the national curriculum in mathematics.
Degree in Mathematics or Related Subject: A degree-level qualification in maths, mathematics education, or a closely related field.
Teaching Experience: Previous experience teaching mathematics at secondary level (KS3 and KS4), ideally with experience in GCSE preparation.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to connect with students, parents, and staff.
Passion for Mathematics: An enthusiasm for mathematics and an ability to instill this in students, inspiring curiosity and engagement.
Organisational Skills: Strong planning, time management, and organisational abilities to balance teaching, preparation, and assessment.
Desirable Attributes
Advanced Qualifications: A postgraduate qualification in education or a related field is advantageous.
A-level Teaching Experience: Experience teaching mathematics at A-level is highly desirable.
Extracurricular Involvement: Interest in leading maths clubs, competitions, or additional activities to enrich the student experience.
