A Lead Application Engineer / Full Stack Developer with strong experience across web and mobile platforms is needed to join Pimbury a small but innovative equine health tech startup.
We are based near Stroud, Gloucestershire but the role is remote (work from home) full-time basis. Applicants must be located within reasonable distance of GL6 for occasional in-person meetings.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership:

Define and guide the technical strategy and vision.
Shape the technology roadmap to align with business objectives.
End-to-End Development:

Develop, test, and deploy scalable web and mobile (iOS/Android) applications.
Implement robust, maintainable code adhering to best practices.
Cloud Infrastructure:

Manage AWS infrastructure for secure and efficient application deployment.
Oversee cost management and ensure system scalability.
System Architecture:

Design and maintain architecture to ensure data integrity, security, and optimal performance.
Quality Assurance & Testing:

Establish testing frameworks and continuous integration pipelines.
Ensure reliability through rigorous testing and debugging.
Collaboration & Reporting:

Work closely with the co-founder, providing progress updates and technical insights.
Collaborate effectively with non-technical team members to influence product decisions.
Technical Expertise Required

PHP (Symfony Framework): Proven experience in building and supporting backend services, APIs, and middleware.
React Native: Expertise in cross-platform mobile app development.
SQL & SQLite: Strong database design, optimisation, and complex querying skills.
AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, etc.): Comprehensive knowledge of AWS deployment, scaling, and cost optimisation.
Stripe Integration: Experience with secure payment systems, subscription billing, and webhooks.
iOS and Android Native Development: Familiarity with Swift/Objective-C (iOS) and Java/Kotlin (Android).
Additional Skills

Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React.js, Vue.js)
UI/UX sensitivity and adherence to accessibility standards
Strong problem-solving mindset, self-motivation, and leadership abilities

Introductory Call – 15 minutes
In-person Interview with a short presentation
Final Interview – Meet the team, discuss your approach and cultural fit
