Are you someone with a can-do attitude who is motivated and looking to find a role in a friendly and supportive team at Devon County Council

If so, you could be the person we are looking for to join our busy team who arrange non-emergency patient transport for eligible people, registered with a Devon GP, to attend hospital appointments.

Patient Transport Advice Service (PTAS) are working in partnership with Devon ICB to ensure those people who need support are enabled to attend medical services on suitable and safe transport.

In this role you will be speaking daily to patients, their carer’s, NHS professionals and DCC colleagues to source information regarding the patient and ensure we have all the details we need to assess their eligibility to NHS funded transport and make suitable arrangements to meet their needs.

For those not eligible, you will give information and advice on transport options (including public transport) to enable patients to make their own safe travel plans.

PTAS is now also responsible for booking transport for Adult Social Care transport. We are currently reviewing the processes and integrating this work into our daily routine.

A confident phone manner and experience of working in a busy office environment, with an ability to prioritise your workload is essential; if that experience is an NHS or transport organisation it would be desirable, but not essential as full training will be given.

Good IT skills are essential, you will be using a range of Microsoft systems including Teams/Outlook/Excel/SharePoint, as well as several other bespoke data systems for transport provision, managing phone calls and dealing with finance.

The PTAS office is open Monday to Friday, excluding bank holiday from 08.00-18.00.

DCC supports agile working, with a combination of working from home and in our office at County Hall (Exeter). It is expected that you will work at least two days a week in the office and attend for training and meetings as required.
