About Us

We are SPEAR, a charity dedicated to helping homeless people across six London boroughs to find secure accommodation and work towards a positive future. For over 35 years, we’ve worked tirelessly to support homeless people to recover from their personal issues and break down the barriers that they face. We recognise that homelessness is much more than just a housing issue, so we provide a range of accommodation and support services to help people reach their full potential.

This is a superb opportunity for an individual with drive, focus, and a desire to work with our outstanding charity to help us combat homelessness. You’ll discover a passionate, supportive environment where the entire team are working towards the same goals and are dedicated to making positive change and producing great results.

The Role

The purpose of the Mental Health Access Worker role is to deliver an effective service to single people who are currently rough sleeping or formerly homeless. This post will actively support clients who suffer from mental ill health, providing a continued and consistent point of contact, whilst assisting them in navigating the various change pathways available to them; both statutory and voluntary.

Are you passionate about utilising your understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983/2007 and your understanding of therapeutic intervention work to ensure clients are able to access the services that they need in order to manage their mental health and wellbeing?

Our organisation takes a proactive stance in supporting individuals to self-manage their mental health and create management/wellbeing plans to address their needs while well, avoiding crisis interventions where possible.

We are seeking a dynamic and self-driven individual with a good understanding of mental health services and how to effectively support clients who may have such issues.

In this pivotal role, you will engage clients, assess needs, deliver personalised case management, and offer accessibility to clients via drop-in participation and workshops. It is the beginning of assisting clients on their journey from homelessness to independence.

At SPEAR, we welcome and encourage applications from everyone, regardless of age, disability, gender, ethnicity, religion, and sexual orientation. We are facing diverse problems, so need diverse people to tackle them.
