Apple Recruitment are recruiting for Senior Information Officer (Band 6) on behalf of the Northern Ireland Maternal & Child Health & Child Death Review (NIMACH).

Job Purpose:

The post holder will undertake a lead role in the provision of high quality information and data analysis to deliver on key surveillance functions and support maternity and neonatal service safety and improvement initiatives. The work will primarily be focused on national (MBRRACE-UK) and local (Northern Ireland) work to improve outcomes for women and babies with an emphasis on the reduction of perinatal and maternal mortality.

Job Description:

* Be the lead analyst for perinatal and maternal mortality information requirements or requests to support surveillance functions and produce timely reports as required.

* Liaise with Trusts and health care professionals, to ensure robust processes are in place for the timely and accurate collection of Trust perinatal and maternal mortality data to support surveillance functions.

* Working with a wide range of complex information systems, use data linkage skills and processes, to ensure effective data surveillance.

* To manage the development of data collection in new areas to meet new or changing mortality surveillance (perinatal and maternal).

* To interrogate complex information systems and datasets to validate all mortality data (perinatal and maternal).

* Have oversight of all quality assurance and validation initiatives for mortality data both locally and nationally and address any issues promptly to ensure a robust quality assurance system is in place.

* Implement new changes to data collection in line with developments across the UK, ensuring data quality and integrity is maintained for historical data

* Analyse and present complex, sensitive data to midwifery and neonatal colleagues in a format which is easily understood and may be used to support ongoing local audit and service improvement

* Provide accurate and validated information in response to requests and queries received from stakeholders in a timely manner, to include: information for Department of Health, Trusts, Freedom of Information requests, Assembly Questions, service commissioning and professional leads.

* Provide specialist expert advice to a wide range of staff in the use and interpretation of mortality data provided at both a local and national (MBRRACE-UK) level.

Essential Criteria:

1a). Possess a university degree or professional qualification in a health service or health-service related field and at least 2 year’s relevant experience

OR

1b). At least 5 years’ relevant experience

2). 2 years practical experience in a working environment of the Microsoft Office suite of programmes (or equivalent), such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access and Outlook.

3). Have knowledge of and the ability to demonstrate practical experience and competence in statistical analysis and data management which must include experience of one of the main statistical analysis packages.

4). Have experience of managing large datasets and databases and producing reports from same.

5). Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills, as appropriate to meet the needs of the post in full.

6). Ability to communicate complex data to a variety of audiences.

7). Good organisational skills, the ability to work to a high degree of accuracy and ability to prioritise work effectively and meet deadlines.

8). Ability to work on one’s initiative and also as part of a team and to perform to a high standard under minimum supervision.

9). Be numerate and computer literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office products specifically Excel and Access.

Desirable Criteria:

1). Experience of using Business Objects or ‘R’.

2). Demonstrate experience of working across a multidisciplinary team.

3). Have knowledge of ethical and legislative issues related to data collection and management of confidential medical information.

Further Details:

* Hourly Rate: £18.10

* Hours: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm

* Duration: until Dec 2024 (possibility of extension)

* Location: Ballymena
