Steetmason improver required to support City Highways in undertaking their highway construction and maintenance works

This is a temporary role initially until November, but could be extended for the right candidate

Overall Purpose

To:

* Undertake the construction, maintenance, and repair of the highway infrastructure - roads, footpaths, and drainage features, and lay paving materials and tarmac.

* Competently establish safe sites and identify hazards and the appropriate control measures.

* Supervise, mentor and train lesser skilled staff.

In order to apply, you must possess the following:

* Experience working in the construction industry.

* Experience of undertaking ‘Banksman’ duties - supervising excavators and vehicles and following safe digging techniques.

* Follow instructions.

* Interpret instructions and/or drawings.

* Complete relevant paperwork.

* Able to pass Streetmason Improver Trades Test assessment.

* Knowledge of construction health, safety and environmental requirements and safe working procedures and able to recognise hazards and dangerous situations and take preventative measures.

* Numeracy skills sufficient to understand measurements and calculate quantities e.g., areas, volumes, weights.

* New Roads & Streetworks Act accreditation (NRSWA/ Streetworks Ticket).

* CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Health & Safety Certificate/ Card.
