Role: Domestic Abuse Support Worker

Hours: 37.5 per week Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm
Our client, a specialist charity is looking for a Support Worker to provide a safe and empowering environment for women and their children/dependents who are/have experienced domestic abuse either in their own homes or in a refuge setting.
Synopsis of duties:
Responsible for the delivery of services to service users, ensuring effective reporting to the Manager as appropriate
Responsible for risk management and financial control within the team
Responsible for, high standards of customer care.
To act in accordance with the values and aims of the Charity
To promote and implement policies and procedures
Take responsibility for the effective day to day management and smooth operation of the refuge and provide effective support to women living in their homes:
Manage own case load, key working women using individual support plans
Actively manage new referrals from relevant agencies and individuals, conducting assessment interviews, risk assessments, obtaining relevant information from relevant agencies.
Issue occupancy agreements (refuges only) and induct new service users into the service. Preparing rooms for resident s as required
Ensure the provision of practical and emotional support to vulnerable women and their children/dependents:
Carry out regular risk assessments and promote the safety of women and their children, assisting them in safety planning
Assist women in the community to access any additional security measures and
Sanctuary provision
Assist with welfare and benefits applications (act as advocate where possible)
Enable service users to access appropriate health care and specialist support
Provide information about and help service users engage with local agencies and community
Resources ensuring cultural needs are met
Encourage and support service users to identify, access and maintain appropriate education, training and employment
Support women to understand and access their legal rights
Advocate for and support women to take up their housing rights
Support the implementation of the move on strategy and plan for the hostel ensuring the minimisation of voids and an appropriate balance of women/children is maintained.
Provide resettlement advice and support to women who have left the project working in cooperation with any other agenciesEssential Requirements
Minimum of 1 years’ experience of delivering support to adults from diverse backgrounds and with mixed abilities and complex needs in a supported environment; preferably in Domestic Violence Abuse (DVA) refuges or community-based setting
Demonstrable experience of undertaking individual assessments including risk assessments and developing and delivering support plans
Understanding of local and national approaches to tackling domestic abuse including MARAC, child protection, social and voluntary services approaches/involvement
Enhanced Adult and Child DBS on the update service or dated within the last 12 monthsSupporting Futures Consulting acts as both an employer and an agency
