We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of History to deliver high-quality lessons that support students in achieving outstanding progress. The successful candidate will set clear learning targets, assess student progress with regular feedback, and ensure students are well-prepared for examinations.  With a genuine passion for History, you’ll help our students grow academically, socially, and emotionally, while staying up-to-date with current educational thinking. They will contribute to schemes of work, maintain a stimulating learning environment, and engage with parents and the wider school community. The role also involves taking responsibility for professional development and actively participating in school duties and performance management activities.

The department includes a range of experience who share good practice of teaching and learning in the department, the Humanities faculty and across the whole school.
We encourage teachers to be innovative with their schemes of work and lesson planning, including their selection of a wide range of sources to investigate different periods of history. We have made strong progress in developing a curriculum fit for the 21st century
History is taught in mixed ability groups at Key Stages 3 and 4. We work hard to ensure all lessons are effectively differentiated and we have a strong focus on quality first teaching, in line with whole school policy, to enable all students to enjoy their learning and make good or outstanding progress. History continues to be popular at GCSE level with over half of the students in year 9 selecting to study History or the next academic year. At GCSE students study the EDEXCEL course, covering Medicine Through Time 1250 – present day and The British sector of the Western Front, (Apply online only): injuries, treatments and the trenches, Early Elizabethan England (Apply online only), Superpower relations and the Cold War (Apply online only) and Weimar and Nazi Germany (Apply online only). At A-Level students study Britain: Challenges and Transformations (Apply online only), The Cold War (Apply online only) and complete their NEA focused on American History 1760 – 1877.
