We have an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team at a welcoming secondary school in Gateshead!
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with their learning, helping them overcome barriers and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities of Teaching Assistant - Secondary
Assist in the development and implementation of individualised education plans for students to tailor educational activities and resources to meet their specific needs.
Teach a range of subjects to students in Key Stage 3 (Ages 11-14) and Key Stage 4 (Ages 14-16).
Provide one-on-one support to students to help them understand and complete their work, providing additional explanations and assistance as needed.
Monitor and assess students’ progress, provide feedback to teachers, and adjust support strategies as necessary.
Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to students’ development.
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment to foster a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where students feel valued and included.
Use a variety of teaching methods to engage and motivate students, catering to their diverse learning styles and needs.
Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and report to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties.
Requirements for Teaching Assistant - Secondary
Prior experience in a similar role is essential, demonstrating an understanding of the unique challenges and needs of students.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues, building positive and supportive relationships.
Demonstrate the ability to establish trust and rapport with all members of the school community.
Show a deep commitment to helping students by exhibiting patience and empathy in your interactions.
Relevant qualifications or training in education (desirable but not essential).

Have the right to work in the UK.
Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Updated Service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
