The Position

James Walker are looking to recruit a Team Leader within our Laboratory on a permanent contract. This role will be based at the Cockermouth Manufacturing Business Unit in Cumbria.

The full time working hours are 37 per week (day shift) and the annual salary is £33,208.88 per annum.

Key responsibilities

* Ensuring efficient operation of all areas of the Laboratory.

* Testing of incoming fabrics, other bought in items as appropriate and incoming raw materials to changing business needs.

* Appropriate use of generated data to review ongoing statistical capability, analysis of trends and provision of statistical data to allow effective specification updates.

* Provide support to failure analysis testing and project work as appropriate.

* Drive and enforce all health and safety initiatives and ensure full training is provided and the highest standards of housekeeping are in place at all times in all areas.

* Co-ordinate departmental workload/resources and ensure standards of timekeeping and attendance within the team are maintained in accordance with company policies and procedures.

* Absence management and performance management in line with Company policies and procedures.

* Actively support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives. Involve and engage team members to participate.

* Ensure all employees within the team have regular feedback on progress and performance in their role and training. Give praise and recognition and handle poor performance/discipline in line with Company policy.

* Support Manager with appraisal’s and goal setting.

* Monitor and record all TIL and holiday requests.

* Provide support to Materials Engineering Group as necessary.

Experience/Qualifications:

* Experience of working in a Laboratory is essential.

* Experience of working within a supervisory role would be preferred.

* Maintains high standard of ‘discipline’ and adopt a right first time approach.

* The ability to build great relationships with both colleagues and customers, enabling you to deliver an excellent service provision.

* Excellent decision making skills.

* Excellent problems solving, planning and organisational skills.

* Excellent communication skills.

* IT Literate (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and use of manufacturing systems e.g. Oracle
