Our client is looking to recruit a permanent Construction Tutor based at HMP Norwich that can do more than just deliver training but can also engage and inspire learners that have had little or no prior education.
You will provide valuable input to our quality approved schemes of work, session plans and delivery resources as required for classroom led sector and employer led courses. Your key task is the delivery of quality facilitation, teaching, learning and assessment and that encourage and motivate learners to remain on provision and progress into employment.
You will be delivering Construction training leading to CSCS cards for learners and provide employability support. Developing learning resources and flexible learning strategies to meet aims. You will provide valuable input to our quality approved schemes of work, session plans and delivery resources as required for classroom led sector and employer led courses. Your key task is the delivery of quality facilitation, teaching, learning and assessment and that encourage and motivate learners to remain on provision and progress into employment.
Key Responsibilities
* Identifying the individual needs of learners ensuring that all learners have an individual learning plan which links to their long-term employment goals.
* Continually reviewing the learner’s progression to ensure that the training continues to meet their identified needs.
* Preparing, delivering and reviewing comprehensive lesson plans for all sessions that address the training needs of the group including basic literacy, numeracy, language and other social / employability barriers to employment.
* Actively gaining feedback from learners and other sources, reviewing & improving curriculum content accordingly.
* Engaging and motivating both individuals and learner groups to increase retention.
* Completing all the necessary administration e.g. registers, enrolment forms, ILPs, reviews, Awarding Body documentation as determined by external and internal requirements in line with contractual deadlines.
* Working with colleagues / hosts to assist learner’s progression towards qualifications, and movement into employment.
* Contractual KPIs for success and performance to be met.
* Prison based roles are 100% site based, with the expectation of prisoner face to face contact.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
* Confidence in using a diverse range of presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
* The ability to manage challenging situations whilst remaining calm and in control especially in a group situation.
* Respect for and understanding of Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Data Protection policies with specific attention to health and safety requirements when organising off-site activities.
* A passion to motivate and lead by example to support people to achieve qualifications.
* Clear understanding of the OFSTED framework (EIF) with the ability to meet all standards.
Qualifications & Experience
* Level 3 Teaching qualification – e.g. AET / PTLLS/ CertEd (Essential)
* Assessing qualification L3 or equivalent (desirable)
* Health and Safety qualification at L3 or above
* Construction trades employment background with experience of at least 2 years
* Successful applicants will be required to undertake a DBS or DS check or Prison Security Clearance where applicable and provide proof of Right to Work in the UK.
