Class Size: 4-6 students
Needs of students: Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and associated needs
About the School:
An independent SEN School which supports young people with autism spectrum condition, located in the scenic area of Windlesham, Surrey. Looking to maximise every student's potential supported by a bespoke approach to teaching and learning. As well as class teachers the school uses subject teachers like PE & Sport, Art, Design Technology and Cooking. The students also work with professionals such as SALT's and Educational Psychologists.
About the role - Key stage 2 Class Teacher:
Delivery high-quality, well-planned lessons following the national curriculum with a focus on building confidence and independence. You'll be supported by Teaching Assistants in the classroom and a hands-on SLT.
The role will consist of:
Teaching to a class of varying needs including varied types of learning levels.
Work closely with students, their parents/careers and other members of staff to make sure that the students are happy and learning well.
Adapting the syllabus according to the individual students' EHCP.
Make appropriate use of a range of monitoring and assessment strategies to evaluate pupil's progress.
Focused on improving long term outcomes for our young people.
The successful applicants will have:
Previous experience teaching at KS1 and/or KS2.
Ability to plan and deliver high quality, engaging lessons.
Experience teaching and/or working with students with special needs.
Previous experience dealing with challenging behaviour & excellent behaviour management skills.
Ability to utilise/implement Positive Behaviour Strategies.
A calm, patient manner and ability to react positively to a fast-changing environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with staff, parents and students.
To be eligible for this role you must have an Enhanced Child or Child & Adult Workforce barred list DBS Certificate registered on the update service.
