Major Recruitment are seeking an experienced Stock Controller & Buyer to join our client’s site at their manufacturing site near Leicester.
The Stock Controller & Buyer will be a key team player within the Operations Team, responsible for overseeing stock levels, coordinating purchasing activities, and ensuring optimal inventory management. You will play a key role in managing the procurement process, liaising with suppliers, and maintaining efficient stock levels to meet production demands. The role requires strong Excel skills, with experience using SAP or other ERP systems to manage stock, procurement, and data analysis effectively.
Key Responsibilities as Stock Controller & Buyer
* Work with new and existing suppliers to ensure SLA, best price negotiation is achieved.
* Manage the stock levels within the business ensuring adequate packaging and raw materials are available to meet business needs.
* Utilise SAP/ERP systems to track inventory, generate stock reports, and provide data-driven insights for decision-making.
* Work with the manufacturing team to ensure to forecast materials, placing purchase orders to meet business levels.
* Ensure accurate stocks levels are maintained ensuring excessive stock is not held and shortfalls do not occur.
* Analyse the results of month-end stock counts, identifying any variances and discrepancies.
* Work closely with the operations team to resolve any stock discrepancies or issues identified during the stock count analysis.
* Provide accurate stock holding reports to the finance team, manage budgets, approve purchase orders, and ensure cost-effective procurement practices.
* Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to stock levels, procurement efficiency, and supplier performance.

Skills and experience required Stock Controller & Buyer
* Proven experience in stock coordination, buying, or inventory management, within a within a FMCG environment
* Excellent working knowledge of SAP and Excel and the ability to analyse data and generate reports.
* Able to communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
* Strong attention to detail and have strong problem solving skills.
* A good working knowledge of procurement and inventory management best practice.
