About the Role:
Cornwall Council is looking for a dedicated and experienced Adults Safeguarding Social Worker to join our team in a fully remote capacity. You will be at the forefront of protecting vulnerable adults and ensuring their safety and well-being through effective safeguarding practices. This is a unique opportunity to work from home while making a positive impact on the lives of individuals across Cornwall.
You will work closely with colleagues and partner agencies to assess risk, investigate concerns, and develop protection plans that uphold the rights and dignity of adults in need of safeguarding.
Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake safeguarding enquiries in accordance with the Care Act 2014 to protect adults from abuse and neglect.
* Assess and manage risks to vulnerable adults, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions.
* Work collaboratively with adults, their families, carers, and multi-agency professionals to develop safeguarding plans and ensure person-centred support.
* Conduct capacity assessments and work within the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) frameworks.
* Record and manage cases through Cornwall Council’s case management system, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date.
* Prepare detailed reports and attend Safeguarding Adult Board (SAB) meetings and case conferences as required.
* Provide advice and guidance to other professionals and contribute to safeguarding training for staff.
Essential Requirements:
* Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification).
* Registered with Social Work England.
* Significant experience in adult safeguarding, including conducting safeguarding enquiries.
* Knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and associated safeguarding legislation and policies.
* Strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills, with a focus on person-centred practice.
* Ability to work independently, manage a caseload, and meet deadlines in a remote working environment.
* Access to a reliable internet connection and ability to use digital tools for remote communication and case management
