Assistant Buyer – Construction

About Us

Our client is a well established construction business based in South Manchester. Working predominantly on high end residential projects as well as other commercial new builds and refurbishment projects, their ever growing order books mean they now have a requirement for a Junior Buyer to work under a well experienced Senior Buyer.

Role Overview

As an Assistant Buyer, you will support the procurement team in sourcing materials, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring that our construction sites receive the necessary materials on time and within budget. This role is perfect for someone with purchasing experience or an interest in construction procurement, looking to develop their career in a fast-paced industry.

Key Responsibilities

* Assist in sourcing and purchasing construction materials and supplies.

* Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to secure competitive prices.

* Monitor stock levels and ensure timely deliveries to project sites.

* Process purchase orders, invoices, and supplier contracts.

* Track and manage supplier performance and resolve any supply chain issues.

* Work closely with site teams to understand their material requirements.

* Stay updated on market trends and new product innovations.

* Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.

Requirements

✅ Previous experience in a purchasing, procurement, or supply chain role (construction industry preferred).
✅ Strong negotiation and communication skills.
✅ Knowledge of construction materials and suppliers is a plus.
✅ Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
✅ Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
✅ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and procurement software.
✅ A keen eye for detail and accuracy in processing orders.
