About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Inspection Engineer (RG2 CAT 2) to strengthen our client's team in Aberdeen or Grangemouth. This role offers the chance to work on high-hazard refining and petrochemical sites, utilizing your expertise in pipelines, tanks, pressure vessels, and more.
Key Requirements
Qualifications:
* Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (preferred but not essential).
* Minimum CAT II or equivalent as per RG2 standards.
* Industry qualifications such as PSSR, PSR, ASME, API, and EEMUA (preferred but not essential).
Experience
* 5+ years in inspection engineering.
* Extensive experience in inspecting pipelines, pipework, tanks, mechanical protective devices, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and fired heaters. Additional experience in fabrication, design, commissioning, maintenance, inspection, turnarounds, and plant operations on high-hazard refining or petrochemical sites.
* Tank inspection experience (preferred but not essential).
* Managerial experience (preferred but not essential) to support technical management or act as a deputy inspection technical manager when required.
* Proficiency in computer-based technologies.
Skills
* Expert knowledge of inspection standards, legal requirements (e.g., PSSR, PED, Pipeline Safety Regulations, API, ASME, EEMUA, PUWER, LOLER), and the design, fabrication, purpose, and operation of equipment.
* Comprehensive understanding of mechanical design codes, material properties, degradation mechanisms, and prevention methods (e.g., design, coatings, maintenance, and operating conditions).
* Familiarity with petrochemical site standards (e.g., COMAH, PUWER, LOLER, HSWA, PED, DSEAR).
* Knowledge of offshore inspection engineering.
* Proficiency in NDT techniques, their applications, and limitations.
Salary
Approximately £60k, depending on experience
