Just Food Recruitment is recruiting for a Head of Compliance to join this growing and ambitious food manufacturing who specialises in the Food Service industry.

You would be joining a company that is on the rise, with fresh investment, a very stable industry and a strong reputation as one of the market leaders in their sector.

Job Purpose: 

To ensure that the compliance thread runs through all areas of the business, thereby ensuring product is manufactured with the highest safety and compliance standards

To ensure that customer and legal requirements for food safety, health & safety and environmental considerations are recorded in a documented business system that is implemented and understood within the business.

Role Accountabilities:

Ensure relevant standards - HACCP based as appropriate - are communicated, understood and applied to meet Food Safety, quality and legal standards as well as customer specified requirements.

Effectively manages communication on all technical, Health & Safety and environmental matters with customers (internal and external) and suppliers to develop relationships and ensure that business opinion is considered and respected.

Provides technical and Health & Safety input into formulation and agreement of overall business strategy including budget and PIP initiatives. Through personal and team objectives, delivers technical, Health & Safety elements of the business strategy.

Identify and implement compliance KPI’s (including but not limited to Food Safety, Health and Safety and Environmental) to monitor standards and drive the business forward through continuous improvement.

Ensure that the Sustainability agenda is a common thread that runs through operational activity and strategies across the business.

Provide the practical support to operational management to drive a compliance culture.

Team development – ensure that the appropriate team structures are in place, resourced with staff who enable the needs of the business, as well as reflecting company values

Provide specialist knowledge to enable the business to exploit manufacturing, NPD and commercial advantage whilst ensuring the required standards of food safety, quality, legality, Health & Safety and environmental factors are met.

Ensure the relevant health, safety and environmental standards are both implemented, and documented in a recognisable and understood recording system.

Understand the Dietetic requirements from customers and relevant legislation. Liaise with the Dietitian to ascertain the impact on the business and what compliance standards the business requires to implement these.

Ensures that a safe working environment exists for all employees within the business, and that as a minimum, the standards set out in the SHE manual are met.

Compliance strategy – formulates a “living” strategy that reflects and enables the overall business strategy.  Ensure that this strategy has been converted into appropriate compliance plans that are clearly understood and owned by the staff at every level of the business.  Provide expert input into the overall compliance strategy as part of the Senior Management Team

Change Management – where necessary helps to delivers change management programmes within the business to improve business compliance.

Measurement and Control – ensure that these KPIs are used at all levels through the compliance team to improve business performance.
