We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced Chef (Term Time Only) to join the catering team.
You need to be a flexible, reliable and self-motivated team player who is able to work in a pressurised environment. You will have a “can-do” attitude and great communication skills, which are key to being part of a team who will run the kitchen safely, smoothly and hygienically.
You will have an excellent working knowledge of Health and Safety requirements and standards as well as holding City and Guilds 706-1/2 or NVQ level 1 or 2 in Food Preparation and Cooking, or equivalent.
This will be working full-time hours during term time, split shifts and alternate weekend working.

Hours of Work (40 Hours per Week):
All shifts from Monday to Friday are a straight 8 hours each:
Morning shift = 7.00 am to 3.00 pm (8 hours);
Late shift = 11.30 am to 7.30 pm (8 hours)
Weekend shifts are different: there is an alternating 3 week rota whereby each chef does:-
“full weekend” = Saturday straight 8 hours and Sunday 7.00am to 6.30pm. After the first 8 hours they are paid overtime at time and a half. (They then have 2 days off in the week following)
“one day weekend” = Saturday shift 7.00-6.30 pm. After the first 8 hours they are paid overtime at time and a half (They then have 1 day off in the week following)
“weekend off” and they just work the full 5 days straight 8 hour shifts Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities:
To provide high quality, varied, up-to-date, nutritional balanced meals for pupils, staff and visitors whilst working to the necessary standards of health and safety and food hygiene safety standards
Ensuring a steady and efficient work flow in the kitchen and food service provision
General Duties:
To work within all school procedures and codes of practice and undertake training as required
To undertake such other duties as are agreed to being in keeping with the general nature of the role
Special Requirements:
NVQ Level 1 or 2 in food preparation and cooking (or equivalent)
Experience working in a qualify, fresh food kitchen and working to/leading on hygiene and H&S requirements
Passionate to cook to highest quality standards
Ability to manage shift patterns and cover for absence effectively, including weekend service
Immaculate personal presentation, outgoing and friendly
Salary c £27,000 pa, actual for term time only
