SEND Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Southwark

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant mainstream secondary school in Southwark. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive impact on the educational experience of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will start immediately and work full-time until the end of the academic year.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students with SEND in the classroom, both individually and in small groups.
Assist in the preparation of learning materials and resources tailored to individual student needs.
Foster an inclusive learning environment and ensure students' well-being and engagement.
Work closely with the SENDCO, teachers, and other staff to implement effective strategies for students with additional learning needs.
Assist with assessments and provide feedback on student progress.
Promote positive behaviour and help manage classroom routines and activities.
Ensure students access the curriculum to the best of their ability and provide any additional support required.Requirements:
Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational or child support setting.
Strong experience with SEND, particularly in secondary education.
A current DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
Knowledge of SEND strategies and a passion for inclusive education.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and students.
Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to student support.
