Electrical Shift Technician
Salary: up to 46.3k including 20.67% shift allowance
Location: Sheffield
40 Hours – shifts Day 6-2, Afters 2-10, Nights 10-6

The Opportunity
Our client is a leading global steel processing group, renowned for its expertise in manufacturing high-quality steel products. The Role
Work on a shift basis to support electrical operations in a heavy engineering plant.
Maintain and repair motors and drives.
Perform fault finding on electronic cards down to component level.
Maintain mill thyristor drives.
Conduct electrical maintenance on overhead DC and AC cranes.
Maintain PLC systems, particularly ABB and Allen Bradley.
Use programming tools to diagnose PLC faults and adjust parameters as needed.
Monitor and maintain furnace control systems, including calibrating controllers, replacing thermocouples, and managing furnace lighting procedures.
Respond to breakdowns, quickly and safely identifying faults to minimise production downtime.
The Ideal Candidate
HNC qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Basic knowledge of PC-based software, including Excel.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
Experience writing detailed shift activity reports.
Familiarity with safety legislation related to operations and electrical maintenance.
Skilled in following Safe Working Procedures (SWPs), risk assessments, Isolation & Immobilisation procedures, permit systems, and IEE regulations.
