Placing Leaders are recruiting on behalf of our client for an Estimating Manager for our client who are a Commercial Glazing Company based in Somerset.

The Estimating Manager will have experience working in a facade, curtain walling, windows and doors manufacturing company previously using software systems such as CAD, LogiKal. Familiarity with a system house is essential and knowledge and experience with SMARTs will be beneficial although it is expected that an experienced Estimating Manager will be able to adapt within a short period of time with support and training with the SMART system provider.

As a estimating Manager you should have strong people management skills, working to process and experience in working to procedures and systems already established within a similar business.

Being a motivated leader you will need to manage and promote change management to ensure efficiencies and effective changes are implemented to the existing Estimating process which will need ongoing improvement and development to ensure we can continue being a competitive quality driven Designer, manufacturer and installer of our aluminium products.

As a team leader you will need to work closely with all departments and ensure the companies values and targets are met.

Estimating Manager Position Overview
• Ensure company Policy, Procedures and standards are maintained.
• At all times company health, safety and welfare systems are followed and maintained.
• Work to agreed systems and processes to ensure the Estimating dept operates smoothly and simultaneously.
• To motivate and give direction to other team members and other department teams, whilst following the company ethos.
• To control workflow to meet customer deadlines, from checking and managing product specification, drawings and making adjustments to overseeing work of other employees to ensure best timescales and tender outcomes are achieved.
• Updating hot leads and CRM databases to reflect current performance.
• Management of the Estimating admin support, and or other employees with regard to required working time requirements to meet project programs.
• Encourage the development of employee’s skills and abilities.
• Review inconsistency, challenges and errors to drive improvement
• Quality assurance to system parameters/requirements.
• To undertake operational duties as required to meet deadlines and / or cover for staff absence, filling gaps in resources including office personnel holiday leave.
• Organizing and coordinating the Estimating database.
• Regularly check industry prices for materials, consumables and labour both internal and external.
• Assessment of incoming enquiries for suitability and risk.
• Analysis of any potential technical issues including liaising with relevant consultants, architects and clients to bring to a successful conclusion.
• Preparation and submission of subcontract and material enquiries and assessment of incoming quotations for suitability/value.
• Attend/conduct meetings with client/architect/consultant.
• Carry out full take off and detailed pricing.
• Assess and price preliminary items and access equipment required to carry out a successful contract.
• Submit fully prepared tender documents to clients including Bills of Quantity, clarifications, inclusions and exclusions and supporting documentation.
• Negotiation of costs and proposals including any value engineering work to successful completion and awarding of project.
• Conduct detailed hand over meetings with internal staff and contracts team.
• Carry out Budget costs when required.
• Building positive and lasting relationships with clients to establish new and repeat business.

Estimating Manager Requirements

Health & Safety at Work Act – when visiting customers premises / construction sites

AutoCAD, LogiKal. Word and V6 Software Systems experience

Understanding of industry sector current regulations and legislation incl Building Regs.

Computer systems/software understanding .

Standard Office proficiency.

Previous Estimating Manager, pricing and closing experience (5years+).

Management / Supervisor position.

Experience working on aluminium CW, windows and door products (SMARTS or equal)

High-level of personnel management.

Digital data recording and sales reporting month and year stats.

Ability to communicate, organize, motivate and help support a team.
Within this role you would report directly to the Directors of the Company. We would expect there to be bi-weekly & monthly meetings held between yourself, directors and or individual operations team to coordinate workload and project details from successful tenders.
Within this role we see it to be extremely important that a positive moral is promoted to our customers and amongst the department and office overall, whilst maintaining company standards and expectations together with a high level of professionalism.
From time to time your duties may extend to other areas of the business as required, at all times ensuring the smooth running of the Company. We would also expect during busy periods for you to be available to work outside of normal working hours to help meet Tender programs to ensure our clients expectations are met
