On top of the base salary the standby and overtime average for all Instrumentation Tech's equates to an additional 25% on top of the base.

This means OTE can range from £51,581 to £60,684 (assuming certain competency are held and are on the standby rota).

If dual authorised, this could climb to an OTE of £66,753 - this is something that people work up towards over a long period of time in the role and never bring someone in on.

Offers are normally in the £41,265 to £46,120 range (as a base) to then develop and work up once competencies are achieved.

Job Overview:

You will be responsible for the installation, inspection, commissioning, operation, repair, maintenance, and emergency response activities associated with Terminal, Compressor Station, Pipeline, and AGI assets within a specified geographic zone of the national transmission system.

Key Accountabilities:

Installation and Maintenance: Engage in the installation, inspection, commissioning, operation, repair, and maintenance of Terminal, Compressor Station, Pipeline, and AGI systems, including pipeline and rotating machinery. Perform tasks according to relevant policies and procedures to enhance asset and plant availability and reliability.
Safety Compliance: Ensure safe setting to work for yourself and others, issue permission documents, and devise isolations following safe control of operations procedures. Foster a team culture of safe working practices and adherence to National Grid Policies and Procedures.
Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of site maintenance, asset operations, and safe control of operations for all work activities. Ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulatory requirements.
Support New Projects: Contribute to the construction and commissioning of new assets onto the gas transmission system and other non-load related projects. Identify the need for replacement or upgrade of existing plant and equipment, assist in the design of minor modifications, and provide technical support within your discipline.
Emergency and Operational Plans: Aid in the development, review, and update of emergency, security, safety, operational, and environmental plans and procedures. Act as incident controller and site main controller during planned and emergency situations, monitor and control site security operations, and participate in duty standby rota and occasional shift work.
Pipeline Protection: Protect the high-pressure pipeline system, monitor third-party work, respond to aerial sightings, oversee cathodic protection, support the in-line inspection program, and perform the competent person role for routine and low complex non-routine operational procedures.
Knowledge and Experience:

Proven maintenance and operational expertise in Electronic, Instrumentation, Electronics, or Control Systems.
Experience in maintenance, fault diagnosis, and rectification work within the Oil & Gas or similar process industry.
Competence in inspecting equipment in hazardous areas.
Proficiency in operating, controlling, and undertaking work within Safe Systems of Work.
Appreciation of systems and equipment from other engineering disciplines within the Oil & Gas or similar process industry.
Understanding of relevant discipline legislative and health & safety requirements.
Experience in the operation and control of process plant and equipment.
Relevant training certification and/or evidence of competencies.
Essential Qualifications:

Time-served Apprenticeship or recognized Training Scheme in a relevant engineering discipline (Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics, or Control Systems).
BTEC National Certificate or equivalent (City & Guilds, NVQ/SVQ Level 3) in a relevant engineering discipline.
Valid current driving license.
Desirable Qualifications:

Time served / apprentice trained instrument technician or equivalent
Ideally Compex EX01 - 04 Hazardous Equipment certification.
