Job Purpose
The purpose of the Finishing Operative is to ensure the final stages of production meet the highest quality standards by performing precise finishing tasks. This role involves executing detailed processes such as polishing, wet spray, sanding, powder coating, or assembling to prepare products for inspection. The Finishing Operative plays a critical role in maintaining customer satisfaction by delivering finished goods that meet all specifications on the production order.
This position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety and quality protocols, and the ability to work efficiently within production deadlines while collaborating with team members to achieve operational excellence.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Operate and manage manual polishing machines, powder coating equipment, and spray booths.
* Prepare metalwork for finishing processes, including polishing, powder coating, and spray painting.
* Perform finishing processes, including polishing, powder coating, and spray painting, on a variety of items to a high standard.
* Conduct quality control checks on finished products, ensuring adherence to job sheets and drawings.
* Maintain tools and equipment, including cleaning and performing basic maintenance on polishing machines, powder coating guns, and spray booths.
* Stock check materials and reorder supplies as needed to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
* Follow the company's standard work procedures, including 5S and Health & Safety protocols.
* Take on diverse tasks within the finishing department, contributing to new challenges and skill development.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills Required
* Proficient in the use of polishing machines and powder coating equipment.
* Experience in a finishing role, with a minimum of 2 years preferred.
* Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
* Self-motivated, with excellent planning and strong communication skills.
* Familiarity with Health & Safety standards in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Skills
Understanding of a production environment and scheduling.
Finishing knowledge.
COSHH Training.
Experience working as a Powder Coating.
Experience working as a Hand Polishing.
Excellent communication.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining quality standards.

Desirable Skills
COSHH qualification.
5s or Lean manufacturing.
BS EN 60598 standards and legislation.
Experience working as a Wet Sprayer.

3.30pm finish on Fridays
Christmas Shutdown – use of annual leave required
Salary: £26,000 - £30,000
