Central is currently recruiting for a Support Worker, to work in the Wandsworth area. The service is an 8 bed shared house providing accommodation to individuals addressing their drug/alcohol use. The service provides high support to people who are rough sleepers or at risk of rough sleeping with the aim to enable people to reduce the harm to themselves or others from their substance use and develop the necessary life skills to move-on and live independently.

The successful candidate will be required to work 35 hours per week, working across Monday - Sunday, covering early (8AM - 4PM) and late (2PM - 10PM) shifts. There is a requirement to work four weekends out of every six. Cover is required on a temporary or temporary to permanent basis. The pay rate for this role is £15.96 per hour, with £2.32 holiday pay, totalling £18.28 per hour.

In this position, you will responsible for:

* Hold a caseload of 1 -2 key clients and conduct regular key working sessions to stabilize service users support needs resulting in agreed Support Plans

* Complete comprehensive risk and needs assessments

* Engage residents effectively by establishing a trusting working relationship which is person-centred and empowering

* Use Outcomes Star to agree and monitor support and personal goals

* Assist in the monitoring, evaluation and processing of all referrals to the service and process admissions and exits to and from the service

* Make referrals and link people in with relevant services such as health and community services

* Provide harm reduction support and advice with regards to substance use

* Work closely with Wandsworth substance use treatment team who will be coming into the service to deliver effective support and treatment to residents, maximising their opportunity to reduce harmful behaviours in relation to substance use.

* Ensure residents have access to income and are supported to claim any benefit entitlement where applicable (including housing benefit)

* Participate in the running of a group life skills programme, enabling residents to identify and build their confidence and abilities

* Undertake activities with the residents, including preparing breakfast with/for all residents

* Assist residents with tenancy sustainment; particularly in adhering to the conditions of their licence agreement

* Support people to move through the pathway and/or find accommodation in the community

* Prepare rooms for re-letting including preparation/cleaning of rooms

* Monitor rent arrears and collect rent from residents

* Carry out building checks including room checks, health and safety checks COSHH monitoring and report & record repairs, facilitating contractor access

To apply for this role, you must have;

* Experience of working in services with people with support needs related to substance misuse, homelessness and physical and mental health

* Understanding of the support needs of those who have experienced homelessness and addiction

* Ability to manage a case load of individuals with presenting support needs and help service users identify personal goals

* Ability to work with individuals to develop clear time framed action plans that support progress towards goals

* Ability to work with service users to develop workable risk management plans and to adopt a non-risk averse approach to service delivery

* Ability to be proactive and take initiative

Further requirements:

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:

* Current valid right to work in the UK

* Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)

* A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)

* Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
