Talent84 is delighted to be representing our client; an electrical, controls and process systems engineering specialist based in Wearside who are embarking on an exciting period of growth and expansion, in their search for an Electrical Engineer.

About the Role

Reporting to the Lead Electrical Engineer, my client seeks an Electrical Engineer to play a key role working on a wide variety of projects both local and national. You will work closely with expert estimators, engineering production, manufacturing and site-based installation teams to ensure that project specifications are met efficiently. This role involves CAD design, control system development, and project management to deliver high-quality solutions for projects.

Main Responsibilities

* Develop detailed electrical designs and schematics for LV switchgear using CAD software, ensuring all designs meet regulatory and safety requirements

* Produce functional design specifications for control systems in compliance with industry

* Oversee electrical control system projects from design through to installation and commissioning

* Coordinate with clients, contractors, suppliers and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution, including organising and attending FAT & SAT tests

* Work closely with the estimating team to transform draft concepts into functional designs

* Provide technical support to the sales and manufacturing teams

* Work within agreed budgets

* Production of technical submissions and operating and maintenance manuals

* Report to the Lead Electrical Engineer on a day-to-day basis updating on the progress of your projects, flagging any potential problem areas and collectively identifying a solution to address the issue

About you

To be considered for the role, it is essential that you possess demonstrable experience in electrical engineering, switchgear and electrical control system design. You will possess a minimum of an HNC in a relevant discipline (HND/Degree preferred but not essential).

Key selection criteria

* Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, ETAP SEE Electrical or similar)

* Understanding of BS7671 wiring regulations, BS EN 61439 and IEC standards

* Strong understanding of electrical schematics and panel layouts

* Keen attention to detail and commitment to high-quality engineering solutions

* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

* Experience with MCC wiring & PLC programming preferred, but not essential

* Right to work in the UK
